Spark expands beyond mail to take on the biggest challenge executives face today.

Jun 19, 2024

Spark, the pioneer of intelligent email, announces that it is evolving beyond its roots to take on our biggest productivity killers. With today’s announcement, Spark is revealing its AI-powered Calendar and Meeting Notes tools, designed to save executives valuable time by automating low-value tasks. Spark is available now in the App Store and Google Play, and for laptops on Mac and Windows.

Business people are drowning in technology. Remote and hybrid work have created schedules packed with back-to-back meetings that demand our full attention. Relentless communications from email and messenger apps pile up and distract. The very collaboration tools that were supposed to enable and empower us come at a heavy cost: our productivity and our wellbeing.

When we do have a moment to ourselves, we spend that time planning and coordinating. Organizing a meeting for just three or four people consumes precious time. And, it’s even harder when those participants sit outside of your organization. Whether you’re a Marketer, Product Manager, Recruiter, or even a Journalist, these time-intensive activities have only increased since the pandemic, leading many to experience burnout.

Experts agree that one of the best ways to stay ahead is to reduce the number of tasks you are working on at once. That’s where Spark comes in. In 2015, Readdle, the productivity applications company, launched Spark to take on email overload. The rise of a new breed of work pressures means Spark is evolving its suite of tools to help.

Today, Spark reveals the first in a series of major new tools that are fully integrated with its email: AI-powered Calendar and Meeting Notes. As simple and easy to use as they sound, they represent a new milestone in the company’s efforts to minimize the toll of modern work, and will roll out over the coming weeks.

Spark Calendar is the first experience that seamlessly integrates meeting scheduling with email, reducing friction at every step. When users receive an email with suggested meeting times, they can instantly view these proposals in Spark Calendar and create an event or meeting with a single click. Drafting your own meeting time proposal is equally straightforward: users can block any number of time slots in their schedule for inclusion in an email that recipients can confirm.

The intensity of modern work makes it difficult to stay present and engaged in meetings. Spark Meeting Notes changes that by eliminating the need for manual note-taking. The tool generates detailed transcripts, summaries, and actionable next steps, which can be easily shared with various stakeholders. Meeting Notes works with any meeting tool without the need for additional extensions.

According to McKinsey, by 2019, knowledge workers were already spending about 85 percent of their time on the phone, email, and in meetings. This figure has only increased since the pandemic. It should, therefore, come as no surprise that research suggests that almost 80% of the workforce experiences stress, costing the US economy approximately $300 billion per year.

“When our research told us that 70% of an executive’s time is spent in meetings, we knew we had to take Spark to a new frontier,” said Alex Tyagulsky, Head of Spark and Co-founder of Readdle.

“Users can now manage their emails, meetings, and calendars directly from Spark. This capability eliminates the complexity associated with switching between multiple apps, saving you time and energy in the process. Spark is committed to helping executives reclaim time lost to low-value tasks, allowing them to focus on their highest-value activities.”

Spark’s new tools will be rolled out to its users over the coming weeks. They are integrated within its existing premium plan, which starts at just $4.99 / month.
