Readdle is announcing that Calendars 5 will be officially sunsetted on the 30th of June. Users are encouraged to transition to its more advanced successor, Calendars.
Readdle's main planner product, Calendars (with a blue icon on App Store), offers all the tools from Calendars 5 (yellow icon), plus much more to come, including AI-powered capabilities.
"We're not just focused on incorporating advanced AI technologies; our goal is to enhance the user experience while keeping the essence of what makes our product uniquely human. We envision our app not merely as a tool but as a supportive companion that truly understands and addresses the fundamental aspects of time management for our users," emphasizes Dmytro Protserov, VP of Consumer Apps at Readdle. Calendars 5 users will keep access to the app, though further software updates will be halted.
This switch reflects Readdle’s mission to build better capabilities into Calendars, which is enjoyed by 30 million users, and is already one of most comprehensive planner apps in the Apple ecosystem. Information for Calendars 5 users regarding smooth transition to the modern app version will be available inside the Calendars 5 app. Calendars will offer several purchase options to cater users’ needs, including a basic free version, Pro subscription and a Lifetime purchase option.
Celebrating 14 years of calendar innovation
Calendars 5, which celebrated its tenth anniversary last year, laid the groundwork for the newer Calendars app. Its predecessor, Calendars+, debuted even earlier, in 2010. Over the past fourteen years, Readdle’s calendar app has outlasted many competitors and has proven to be a reliable time-keeping companion.
Calendars 5 was originally designed to be the most comprehensive planner of its kind. It uniquely combined tasks, reminders and calendar appointments pulled together from multiple user’s accounts. Its clean design emphasized user content with easy color-coding options, allowing users to see everything at a glance.
Let's take a look at the journey of Calendars, which began with the iPhone 5 generation.
Shaping the future of timekeeping
As we bid farewell to Calendars 5, we are excited about the future of Calendars. This isn't just about ending one app to focus on another. "It's an opportunity to take the lessons learned and the feedback gathered over the years to heart, using them to shape a future where Calendars is more than just an app," says Dmytro Protserov, VP of Consumer Apps at Readdle.
We envision Calendars as a supportive companion that understands the unique challenges and aspirations of our users. In the coming months, Calendars customers can expect to see significant enhancements across different platforms.
