The best Calendar widgets for iPhones and iPads

In a perfect world, the home screen would look beautiful and smoothly organized, like floating from one icon to another, from widget to widget — it’s continuous yet easy to find the exact app when you need it. It is good to have a calendar widget as part of the screen. This is a way for you to be better at making time pass.

Calendars by Readdle adds a bit more to our motivation on stepping towards well-being in everyday life — You see the past and upcoming events, tasks, and your special important days. All that together makes your relationships with a routine far away better. But most importantly, by having a whole picture of tasks in front of your eyes, you will always know when it’s time to have a break.

With this idea in mind, we want to show you examples of good widgets for Calendars, which were gently shared by our users (it’s very likely there can be one of yours).

Let’s dig in!

Loyal iPhone User? Best Widgets to Dress up Your Screen

iPhone is a device you hold in your hands every day, and you want it to be visually pleasing, with no clichéd and overused typefaces, or widgets regularly changing their look because of a mere flick of your hand. Fortunately, we haven't faced that kind of thing. Calendars widgets will still look great, no matter the size of your screen. Or how you rotate it.

Monthly Calendar

While you can't create more hours in a day than the usual 24 or add a few extra Sundays, you can at least make your monthly calendar look pretty. And this guarantees a good starting point at least 12 times a year.

A monthly widget is when everything is so simple and nothing is surplus.

Upcoming Events

Almost everyone, at least once in their life, has forgotten to make an appointment at a beauty salon or dentist. Those who haven't forgotten are the lucky ones. As the well-known saying goes, "Better safe than sorry," then by posting a list of upcoming events somewhere on your screen, you'll always know what things you need to remember, how much free time you have before you cancel everything... Just kidding.

Tasks

That widget has a shot to become your favorite one if you enjoy crossing tasks off your list. Isn’t it a perfect motivation? Especially if you place this widget next to the apps that are dragging you down. Every time you want to dig into something guilty, the task list will sort of whisper to you, "Not now.”

Or, just make a nice list of tasks. For example, feed your furball and buy a nice bouquet of flowers for the house.

Agenda

This one is especially helpful for planning ahead. Let’s say, today you need to schedule your meetings for tomorrow. Having an agenda right here and there makes it easier for you to choose time slots.

Best Widgets to Try for Your iPad

If you work with your iPad most of the time, a calendar widget with a list of tasks or notes is just what you need to make sure you don't miss anything important. For example, all the way from feeding your cat or sending a report to your boss.

And if you work so much that you forget what day of the week it fell on, choose a widget with not only a list of tasks but also with the calendar itself. Believe it or not, but knowing what day it is today is all too well!

Although at first glance the widgets seem to look like two peas in a pod, they are all used for different purposes. The first one is for personal use while the second one is for work.

Another Twitter user shared a “not-so pink home screen to keep me inspired to work.” We think it adds another bright and a bit more fun to the screen, something reminiscent of marshmallow or Japanese mochi ice cream.

Even if your screen is full of apps, there will be a place for a Calendar widget, showing you the most important things: an event and time.

So, How to Add a Calendar Widget on Your Screen?

If you’re an iPhone user, here’s what you have to do:

  1. From the home screen, tap and hold your finger anywhere on your screen until the apps start to jiggle.
  2. Tap the + button in the upper left corner.
  3. Choose the Calendar widget, then pick one of the 4 different widget types, then tap Add Widget.
  4. Tap Done.

If you’re an iPad user, follow these steps:

  1. Tap and hold your finger for a moment anywhere on the home screen of the iPad.
  2. When the app icons jiggle, press the + button in the upper left corner of the screen.
  3. Choose Calendars and pick a specific widget you want to add.
  4. Tap the Add Widget button, or simply drag & drop the widget onto the home screen.

Now you can move the widget anywhere on the iPad home screen, even switch between screens by dragging it to the left or right edge.

By the way, we talked about XL widgets a few articles ago. You can read it or admire the beautiful pictures here by clicking on the link.
