Calendars data access: your privacy is our priority

We understand that with the latest iOS 17 update, some of our Calendars app users might be concerned about the request for access to their calendar data. Your privacy and data security have always been our top priorities, and we would like to address some concerns and clarify the situation.

Access level remains the same

First and foremost, we want to assure you that the level of access to your calendar data remains unchanged. The app only accesses what is essential for its effective functioning.

Decoding iOS 17 message

We acknowledge that the system message presented by iOS 17 when requesting access to your calendar data might be somewhat confusing and even alarming. It may seem we are now demanding more access than before. However, the truth is straightforward: only the wording has changed, not the access level.

Previously, the message read - “Calendars” Would Like to Access Your Calendar, with two reply options: “Don’t Allow” and “OK”. The “OK” option has been renamed to “Allow Full Access” in iOS 17.

Enhanced control and transparency with iOS 17

With iOS 17, Apple has taken a step to provide users with more control and transparency when it comes to calendar data access on your iPhone. The new "Keep Add Only" option is designed for situations where you want to grant access to apps that need to add specific events to your calendar without seeing your existing calendar records. For instance, flight booking services can automatically update your calendar with your booked flights without needing to access your entire calendar.

However, for apps like ours that allow you to manage and interact with your calendar comprehensively, full access to your existing calendar records is essential to ensure seamless functionality.

To ensure that Calendars continues to work seamlessly on iOS 17, we kindly request that you grant "Full Access" when prompted. This ensures that you can continue to enjoy the full range of tools and benefits our app provides.

What happens on your iPhone, stays on your iPhone ©

The data from users' calendars, reminders, and contacts which Calendars app has access to, resides solely on the user's device and is not shared with anyone.

Trust is the foundation of our relationship, and we remain dedicated to upholding the highest standards of data protection. If you have any further questions or concerns about your data security, please feel free to reach out to our support team.

Thank you for choosing Calendars. We're committed to delivering a top-notch calendar experience while safeguarding your privacy.
