Oxford students are using PDF Expert for iPad

The round-up of interviews with students and teachers about PDF Expert for iPad in education is coming to an end. However, we still have some great stories shared by our users. Today's story focuses on how PDF Expert has changed the workflow of a student.

"I am in my final year studying Business and Management at Oxford Brookes University. As it is my final year I have to do a lot of reading outside of my lectures and seminars, and I have been looking for an easy way to way to manage it all. I have always been a fan of having a tangible book in my hand and up until now I have not done a huge amount of reading on my iPad. This causes a lot of problems as I can't always carry all the books I need and as most of them are from the library I am unable to annotate them how I would like. On top of this, if I annotate an actual book it is rare that I go back and read each of the notes I have made.

Having looked around the AppStore for apps that could help collate electronic copies of all my books, I had a look at PDF Expert.

The most useful feature in my opinion is the Dropbox integration. The whole app is amazing but this stands out for me. As I am constantly working from different computers around the Uni campus I have now moved my document folders on to Dropbox permanently. PDF Expert could not handle this better. It means wherever I am I can add new reading to my Dropbox account and with one click it is on my iPad, ready to read.

PDF Expert is a great substitute for having the actual book in my hand. I now have to only read through a document once as, providing I annotate the important bits, I can scroll through just looking at the notes I made. This saves a huge amount of time when I need to look back and find that important quote.

The app works fantastically throughout. If I am reading some articles and exit the app it saves my place, great for when your are on a bus or train and need quick easy access to your reading. There are a huge variety of ways to annotate the text, you can highlight, underline, strike through in all different colours, definitely beats the standard yellow highlighter I used to use.

It handles huge PDFs perfectly, they load up without any problems and never lag (shame I can't say the same for my laptop).

I have been very impressed with the app and do all my reading on my iPad now. If you are a student and have an iPad don't think twice about buying PDF Expert. It has been essential in helping me organise my ever growing amount of reading, I couldn't recommend it more. "
