There has been a growing concern from our users about PDF Expert 4 upgrade to PDF Expert 5. As a company who values nothing more than its customers we want to clarify a few things.
PDF Expert 5 is a paid app for all App Store users.
Even if you previously used PDF Expert 4, the upgrade to 5 will be a paid one. We would love to give a discounted price to PDF Expert 4 users, but unfortunately the App Store does not allow us to do that.
The migration process from PDF Expert 4 to PDF Expert 5 is very easy. Readdle wizard will automatically move all the documents you have to the newer version.
PDF Expert 4 was removed from sales nearly a year ago.
PDF Expert was maintained, updated and improved during the course of 2.5 years. It essentially became one of the best PDF apps on the App Store. Readdle team worked 8 months to release a new version of PDF Expert (5). A huge part of it was written and designed from scratch to match the new iOS 7 design principle and to add new functionality.
Although we went an extra mile and added iOS 7 support for PDF Expert 4, so our users can still use the app for another year.
Why PDF Expert 5 is a paid upgrade?

and new UI.

2. Universal app : iPhone version was added so you can run PDF Expert 5 on both devices.

Version 5.2 added more features, not just iOS 8 capabilities and iCloud Drive. Zoom Writing is a smart feature that allows you to create notes with precision.

There are dozens of other reasons why PDF Expert 5 is better than PDF Expert 4, we just highlighted the main ones.
Once again, our ultimate goal is to help our users to be more productive, mobile and effective. PDF Expert 5 is definitely one of the best products of its class on the App Store. The only way to make great software is to reinvest heavily and spend hundreds of thousands $$$. Otherwise, we'll be out of business. A small, one time fee of $9.99 does not necessarily grant you lifetime support. However, we truly hoped that PDF Expert 4.7 would work on iOS 8 for our users. Moreover, it is almost technically impossible to release an iOS 8 update for PDF Expert 4.7.
It often surprises us that people can easily spend $4.95 on a cup of coffee, but paying $9.99 for the best in class software that they use daily could be a big issue… For those who understand how much it takes to create the best application out there, we kindly ask to leave a review on the App Store.
