Best of 2022
Spark
This year we released the all-new Spark, designed so that you can focus on what’s important. Featuring a new design which guards your attention and promotes healthy email habits, and a variety of new tools which prioritize important conversations and help organize your inbox.
The all-new Spark is centered around intentional productivity. Tackling your day using a focused approach and efficient workflows leads to greater accomplishments and a less stressful email experience.
PDF Expert
PDF Expert for Mac saw a major release this year, with our team delivering great new features and improvements. The app now has a refreshing new design that features beautiful icons and color enhancements, a tweaked toolbar that makes the tools easier to find, as well as a much-awaited Dark Mode. The UI now sports a modern look and feel, while retaining the same familiarity and elegance that you’ve always known and loved.
We introduced smart OCR technology to instantly recognize text in PDFs. Powered by the Apple Vision framework, our smart OCR feature goes beyond traditional text-recognition features by using machine learning to recognize the fonts in PDFs and make each word selectable and searchable. You can also now use our Smart Enhance feature on your scanned PDFs to fix issues related to contrast, tight margins, and so on. Furthermore, this update also introduced the ability to convert PDFs to other file formats like Word, Excel, Powerpoint, TXT, PNG or JPG. In just a few clicks, your PDFs can quickly adapt to whatever form you want to share them in.
We also introduced Universal accounts that remove the need to purchase the app separately for each device. Once you subscribe to PDF Expert on Mac, you also get the iOS version, with all its Premium features and vice versa. All these new updates strengthen its place as the go-to PDF app for Mac.
Documents
A major Documents update this year introduced an enhanced Actions Menu and a revamped Extension, enabling faster and easier workflows when working with various file types. Now you can open a PDF, image or music file in Documents directly from any app using the new extension from the system Share Sheet. The new Actions menu displays contextual actions based on the file type you’ve tapped on.
Documents VPN can be used to bypass regional restrictions so you can access all your favorite releases. With an updated actions menu jump straight into your favorite video or music streaming service, with your VPN ready to go!
Calendars
We released Calendars for Mac so that you can now use Calendars seamlessly across all your Apple devices. With this release you can create a list of tasks in the Planner tab and drag and drop into a free calendar slot, as well as making use of customizable Shortcuts for regular events.
The Lock Screen widgets offered by Calendars allow you to quickly glance at your day in a moment. There are various simple and extended widgets to choose from; simple widgets can show the time of the closest meeting, or a countdown before the meeting starts. While extended widgets can show titles of the next two calendar events with timing details of the closest one.
Scanner Pro
The Scanner Pro team delivered several new features this year. With Vision OCR, Scanner Pro now supports 28+ languages to instantly recognize text in your scans. Together with Live Text, you can quickly highlight and interact with any text in your scanned documents like making email addresses, phone numbers and URLs tappable.
Scanner Pro also added support for Siri Shortcuts, powering you with the automations where you need them. And with our new widget, you can initiate a new scan right from the Lock Screen.
This year also saw several improvements to our scanning algorithm, which means that the Magic Eraser feature is much better at removing any paper stains, marks or any fingers that may have mistakenly been part of your scans. Scanner Pro has also gotten better at recognizing document categories and detecting document borders while scanning.
iOS 16 Updates
We’re proud to continue building on a strong relationship with Apple that has spanned 15 years. As always, Readdle is among the very first developers to support new iOS capabilities and app features. This year, we were ready from day one of iOS 16 release. With Lock Screen Widgets to Live Text and Stage Manager for iPad, Readdle apps received lots of powerful iOS 16 updates.
Stand with Ukraine
This year has been particularly challenging for many, especially those affected by the ongoing Russian war against Ukraine. We are grateful for the outpouring of love we have received from customers around the world and appreciate your continued support. Readdle is proud to Stand with Ukraine.
